Fourth of July Back Home in Taylor,TX. Old Friends and Ice Cold Beer.
The Fourth of July is important to all of us red blooded Americans,
but my father was a Navy veteran and this has made it
even more meaningful to me.
Therefore, when I found out my mom was sick I decided to make a visit
to my ranch North East of Austin in Hare, Texas.
Normally, the Fourth of July is a lot of fireworks and partying for me, but having
my mom fresh out of the emergency room reminded me of how precious life is
and that our parents mortality is a reality, even for a guy who burns his
candles at both ends.
It also reminded me of my veteran father passing away a few years ago.

- Standing in front of “Old Blue” my father’s 1991 Ford F-150, behind me is the corn field my dad farmed.
When my father passed away after 5 years of being paralyzed from a stroke
I decided to have his 1991 Ford F-150 restored to condition
it was in when he used it. Â I now now use it
as my ranch truck, and
I like to think
that when I cruise the farm he is riding shotgun with me.
As I said, I didn’t get to get “festive” very much this weekend,
But I did go to a few of the bars that my
father used to take me to before his
stroke.
I started out the night at Pepper’s in Noack, Texas,
where I ran into my childhood friend Mario Vega, who works at the DFW Airport,
and believe on the flights back from Amsterdam he is
a very good guy to know!

- Me and my main vato in TTX! At Pepper’s in Noack, TX!
After that I was able to meet up with some other friends at the bar that is the reason I bought
my Hare, Texas Ranch. Â Pancho and Lefty’s this is a bar I feel in love with the
first time I walked inside. When the owners Mike and Linda
refused any offer I gave them to purchase the bar
I did the next best thing and bought a small 500 acre farm with a
wake boarding lake and moved my mother out to be the caretaker of the ranch house
a mere .7 miles from the bar!

- In the photo top row, Ryan, me, Daniel Meehan (my Austinite Marathon Runner), Peter Vega, Mario Vega, and our hommie Ray. At Pancho and Lefty’s in Hare, Texas.
I also was able to hang out with my beautiful
German Short-haired Pointer Soco.

Soco named for Southern Comfort is my hunting partner when it's dove season.
I bought her on September First 2007 ,
in memory of my parents
anniversary,
which is the 1st day of Dove Season
in Texas.
So all this being said a normally party filled weekend,
turned into the serious shit you see here.
So please note,
NEXT FOURTH OF JULY!
Remember all the people who have been American’s on the Fourth
and Hometown’s and Family come first!
